Find New Friends
If all the people you hang around smoke drugs, then its time to find some new friends. If you are serious about stopping you don’t need to be around people who could possibly pull you back into that life. Start hanging around people who are drug free. This will eliminate some of the temptation and increase your chances of success.
Try Nicotine Replacement Therapy
Withdrawal symptoms are very real. And sometimes they can be extremely severe. That’s why nicotine replacement therapy can be very helpful. It will provide you with the nicotine your body is craving. Most replacement therapies allow you to regulate the amount of nicotine you get on a daily basis. This makes it easy for you to slowly wing yourself off. Each day or each week you can take in less and less. Eventually your body won’t crave it anymore.
Keep Trying No Matter What
This is by far the most important tip of all. You will without a doubt have a few slip ups. Its just part of the process. The key to your success is to whip yourself off and get right back on track. Don’t let one slip up send you into a downward spiral. Take it one day at a time. Don’t look too far into the future. That can be overwhelming. Focus on right now. Focus on getting through the next minute or the next hour without smoking.
It will be very tough in the beginning. But you can do it. I have faith in you. As you take it one day at a time you will start to feel stronger and stronger. Before you know it you will have gone 4 weeks without any drugs. Doesn’t sound like a long time, but for a recovering drug addict that’s a major milestone. Whatever you do, just never give up.
